As a warm up to the senior race the early runners were treated to five spectacular junior races, with under 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s &16s all joining in the fun. As this was the final race in the their championships CVFR juniors, in their red and white stripes, could be seen all over the side of Black Clough as they tackled their steep and extremely muddy route. The climbs were tough and the slippery descents fast, resulting in falls, lost shoes but all had an amazing time – aided by goodie bags and chocolate prizes at the finish.
William Hall was first boy U8 in 3.54 with Matilda Baldaro 3rd U8 girl on the day with this securing her overall win in the U8s girls in the club championships. Unfortunately Billy Blacker had a bad fall at the start of the race but got up and dusted the mud off. He completed the race to secure the U8s club championship title.
Olivia Sylge was first U10 girl and friend and rival Beth Blacker 2nd girl. Only 2 points separated the girls at the end of the club championships with Olivia taking the title. Other runners racing for their club championship U10 boys title were Jude Baldaro, Eilo Beesley, Fenner Hughes-Jeffries and Jed Denneny. Jude managed to sneak in to take the title from a shoeless Eilo who did the second lap in socks only.
Cherry Sylge was first girl and the U12s club champion with Nathan Sharkey doing enough to secure the boys U12s championship.
Matthew Murray was 3rd U16 boy and is Calders U16s boys champion. Well done to you all for training hard on a Tuesday and running well.
