Chocolate and Mud galore

The future’s certainly bright for Calder Valley Juniors who raced recently in the chocolate laden bunny run. Max Wharton, returning from injury, had a great run in a swift time of 16 minutes and 8 seconds to take 4th place with a inform James Hall from Wharfedale taking the honours in 14 minutes 49 seconds. Issy Wharton kept the Wharton coat of arms proudly aloft with a personal best time of just 1 second over the 22 minute mark. Rising star Jack Denton had the run of the night for the red and white hoops taking 1st in his category of under 16 in a fast time of 16 minutes 41 seconds. In the mud bath at Pendle Hill, the first of the junior English championships, Molly Traviss took a superb 3rd place in the under 18s to show it’s not just her dad Garry and brother Brad who can shift a bit in the Traviss family. Molly had to pick herself up out of the mud after a spectacular slip descending the hill at speed. In the Under 8s race the hotly tipped Patrick Casey came in a brilliant 4th place and 3rd boy, justifying all the hype around him at the moment.
