BOFRA success for junior hoops

its smiles all round for our runners at BOFRA

Away from the fells, the BOFRA championship awards ceremony (the best 8 results of 16 set races) saw CVFR’s Charlie Ing lifting the trophy for second place overall (462 points) & Stephen Smithies coming 9th (404 points) in the men’s senior competition. In the Vet 50 category, Stephen Smithies took first overall with 477 points. In the ladies competition, despite only running three races, Jo Buckley came 20th in the senior ladies & 5th in the Vet40 category (165 & 180 points respectively). For the juniors, Charlie Pickens’ results saw him win the second-place trophy in the U15 boys’ category (460 points), with red & white stripped teammate Euan Loge coming 4th (422 points) & in the U12, Ollie Pickens placed 12th place (386 points).

Soggy Shepherds didn’t dampen junior spirits

On a very wet and muddy Shepherd Skyline race, the final counter in the club championships, there was some excellent running in-between the slip sliding and generally getting muddy. Notably it was Clara McKee who once again showed her amazing running skills and determination to smashed the U11 girls record in 6:22 and beat all the boys to boot. Calder’s Joseph Stone was close behind as 1st boy in a time of 7.18.

Harry Cliff won the boy’s U9 in 3:40 supported by team mates George Brice in 2nd and Joseph Rochester in 3rd. Charlotte Cliff was 2nd U9 girl with Georgie Illstone in 3rd.

Its only mud glorious mud

Charlie Pickens won the U13’s boys race in 6:33 with George McFee 2nd just 8 seconds behind. Olivia Falkinbridge had a great run to take 3rd girls spot in 8.33 with her good friend Fearne Hanson taking 4th girl in a time of 8.57.

In the very competive U15s category it was 6th place for Elijah Peers-Webb in 6.44 closely followed by team mate Tom Owen in6.56.  Emilia Wright continues to improve taking 2nd U15 girl in 7:31 and Maya Brunt was 1st girl in the U17 category in a time of 14.08.
