Red and White in the woods @ Flowerscar

This was the first time junior races have been held with the Flowerscar race.  The routes were cross country types through the woods around Centre Vale Park.  Both Sam Annison  (8.33) in the boys under 9 and George McFie (11.14) in the boys under 11 recorded the same time as the winners but were just pipped at the post to get hard earned 2nd places.

In the under 13 boys strong runs from James Duffy and William Hall gave them 2nd and 3rd places respectively, James clocking 13.33 and William 13.37. 5th for Joseph Hobbs 14.07, 6th for Alex Duffield 14:19 and 10th for Elijah Peers-Webb showed how strong a team the red and whites have in this age category.

The Calder Valley girls showed good form with Fearne Hanson taking 4th place in the under 11s and Ruby McFie 3rd girls in the under 15s.

Winter League success for James and Patrick

Paddy 7th going up but by can he descend!!!

The Kendal Winter League is a collection of excellent, challenging races organised by Helm Hill and take place between January and March each weekend in the South Lakes and North Yorkshire.

This year the Calder Valley colours have already been on display twice. James Duffy finished an excellent 7th place in the U13 boys at the speedy Birkrigg Common Fell Race on 5th February, and Patrick Casey, in the same age group, was a tremendous 3rd place at the ‘straight up, straight down’ Barbondale Fell Race on 12 February. These races attract some of the best junior fell runners in the country, and are great preparation races for the season ahead.
